How much should I invest in an annuity?

Answered By Ammon Yorke, Editor

The amount of money that you will invest in an annuity will depend largely on your capability to pay the premiums offered by the assurance company. It is advised to follow some considerations in putting money to an annuity like the following:
  • Your probable financial needs
  • Type of investment portfolio
  • Alternatives available for your preference

The most important thing to consider is your financial needs, especially at times when you really need cash to finance something, like child delivery or accidents. However, you must also consider the regulations on the withdrawal of payments on the annuity, because it can be a bad scenario if you will find yourself being served penalty just because you withdraw large amounts in your annuity account where it is not permitted on the plan that you have purchased.
